The Anatomy of a Legend: Our Restoration Process
From Bare Frame to Museum-Grade Perfection.
At Danrr Auto Body, we don't just "fix" classics; we perform automotive archaeology. A true restoration requires more than just a new coat of paint—it requires a deep understanding of original engineering and a relentless pursuit of perfection.
Below is the roadmap we follow to turn a vintage find into an investment-grade masterpiece.
Phase 1: The Consultation & Strategic Plan
Every project begins with a vision. We meet with you to determine the vehicle’s ultimate purpose: Is it a high-point Concours restoration, a "survivor" preservation, or a high-performance Restomod? We map out every detail, from the color code to the drivetrain specifications, ensuring the final result exceeds your expectations.
Phase 2: The "Frame-Off" Disassembly
This is where Danrr separates itself from standard body shops. To ensure a vehicle is truly "new," we perform a complete Frame-Off Disassembly.
- The Process: We carefully remove the body from the chassis.
- The Reason: This is the only way to inspect the "soul" of the car. It allows us to access the frame, floor pans, and fuel/brake lines that are otherwise impossible to see.
- Rotisserie Mounting: Once the body is removed, we often mount it on a specialized rotisserie, allowing our technicians to work on the underside with the same precision as the exterior.
Phase 4: Chassis & Drivetrain Restoration
While the body is being perfected, the frame is media-blasted, inspected for straightness, and finished in a high-durability powder coat or ceramic finish. We then begin the meticulous restoration of the suspension, braking systems, and powertrain, ensuring the car performs even better than it looks.
Phase 5: The Museum-Quality Finish
Our paint process is where the "Danrr Shine" is born.
- Block Sanding: We perform multiple stages of labor-intensive block sanding to ensure the body lines are laser-straight.
- Paint Application: We apply premium-tier paint systems in a climate-controlled environment, followed by multiple coats of clear.
- Cut & Buff: The final finish is wet-sanded and buffed to a mirror-like, "show" quality that is free of orange peel or imperfections.
Phase 6: The "Marriage" & Final Assembly
The restored body is carefully reunited with the finished chassis—a milestone we call "The Marriage." From here, we install the interior, glass, brightwork, and electrical systems. Every nut and bolt is torqued to spec and inspected for accuracy.
